Reminiscent of the move by California in 2002, a group of researchers and institutions have agreed to support stem cell research. This research, which has the potential to combat debilitating disease and even aging, was banned or restricted by many governments worldwide. Despite the controversy, a lot of progress in creating and maintaining stem cells is being made.

These restrictions guarantee that stem-cell research will be privately funded and patented, rather than federally funded and public. This will have the effect of greatly increasing the expense of treatments, but not their availability. Why would our ruling elite want to make sure that the rich are the only ones who could afford to live long, healthy lives? It's yet another move towards corporate world ownership.
