that may be applicable to cryonics:

L-proline accumulation and freeze tolerance of Saccharomyces
cerevisiae are caused by a mutation in the PRO1 gene encoding

Physiological responses of freeze-tolerant and -intolerant frogs:
clues to evolution of anuran freeze tolerance: (Link)

I would imagine that these techniques would be preferred to any
chemical technique... which may induce changes that are difficult to
undo.
